Why a stainless steel cookware?
Stainless steel cookware is the most admired by professional chefs. The reasons vary with the durability, beauty, and cost at the top for incentives to buy.
Appearance—stainless is smooth and shines like a mirror needing the least amount of time cleaning to keep its luster.
Durable—stainless steel is tough; most stainless steel cookware is dishwasher safe; it resists scratches and stains; hard enough to not dent and ding up; and it lasts forever.
Versatile—because it does not react by making stains on the cookware from foods with alkaline (Brussel’s sprouts, carrots, greens) or acid (tomatoes).
Cost—stainless steel is priced moderately with excellent cookware sets priced for everyone on budgets.
There are a few downsides however to stainless steel cookware. It is lightweight and easy to maneuver; it is reasonably priced.
This stainless cookware will change your life if you know which brand should you buy, how to cook with them and how to clean them. Follow the next pages to know more about my experience.1. The grade of stainless steel.
Cristel has standards used in good quality cookware.
The weight: A good quality stainless steel pot will have a certain ‘heft’ which you feel while moving it. A more heavy pan means more material was used to make it, more costly for the manufacturer and much more expensive for you.
The material used in the core: if you search for this 30 years brand, you will definitely find how they are producing their product in France which is one of the most critical factors. The kept the quality all these years.
The design: I admired the details, especially the grips and handles. These are the most popular stainless steel cookware. You can choose colorful grips depends on your kitchen color.
How to care to maintain Cristel stainless steel cookware?
Here are some guidelines that will help:
Cook on medium heat which allows food to stick less and also release more easily from the stainless steel surface.
After cooking, allow your pan to cool off before soaking.
Once cooled, soak the pan with warm soapy water. When you are ready to clean it, food should wipe right off.
You can buy a Cristel fresh product to clean your cookware. Which is easy to use and the result is impressive or just merely use vinegar and water to wash your cookware.
Don’t let the pan soak for hours and never store food inside them.
How do I make a stainless steel pan non-stick?
Hot pan and cold oil.
Heat the pan till you can feel the heat rising when you place your hand above it. Coat the base of the pan with a little bit of oil and let it get hot, almost to a smoking point. At this point, food should not stick to the pan.
Likeittotaste's recipe for Cristel
One pot pasta:
This is one of the famous pasta recipes for families and busy parents who are working until late, and they want to prepare a quick, delicious meal.
Add 4 cups of water to your Cristel pot, add some pasta of your choice, add a cup of a basilica, 4 chopped garlic and a cup of fresh cherry tomatoes. Don't forget to add 2 Tbs of olive oil, salt, and pepper.
Bring your pot to a boil, then cook it on medium heat for about 9 to 10 minutes. Check your pasta to avoid overcooking.
You add parmesan while you are serving. I usually prepare some veggies for a top of my pasta dished, these veggies can be baby asparagus or baby green beans. Just saute them olive oil and garlic for a few minutes, I love the crunchiness of the vegetables with pasta.
Why LE CREUSET & How to make Sourdough Bread with it?
A few months ago, my doctor suggested me to make bread at home and don't buy commercial bread at supermarket. So, I bought a bread machine & started to search on the internet about how to make a bread with my bread machine. I didn't have a lot of information about yeast or sourdough and the process. I have used commercial yeast which you can buy them in every supermarket . However, my bread was missing something, the taste and the texture wasn't in a way that I was expected.
That's why I have started to read more and discover how to make a bread with a sourdough starter!! For this idea I needed a Le Creuset pot to help me, But why? Because Le Creuset pots help the bread to steam well in the oven and bake the bread perfectly with large holes & crispiness.
I will explain below step by step how to make your sourdough starter and use it in your bread recipes.
Until the middle ages, a sourdough starter was an essential part of bread making. If you wanted your dough to rise, this culture of flour, water, and wild yeasts was what did the lifting. As a living ingredient, the starter needs to be looked after – even fed occasionally. That may sound difficult but the bread has more flavor, lasts longer and is easier to digest.
To make a starter, all you need is a large jar and some organic flour – ideally rye. Pour 200g flour into the jar, add an equal weight of cool water, mix well and cover with something porous, such as kitchen towel. Put the jar somewhere warmish, but definitely not hot.
It's best to measure with a scale, but if you don't have one, don't worry. 1 cup of flour is pretty easy to measure consistently a cup of water and stir it up. The important thing about starter always needs to be the same amount.
After another day, once your starter is bursting with bubbles and impressively puffed up, it will be ready for feeding. Add another half of cup or 50 grams of flour and 50 ml of water to the mixture and stir it.
During days till day 5, you need to do the same thing adding flour and water! After day 5 your starter is alive and you keep feeding it till 7 days and don't worry if beery-smelling liquid forms on top – you can either pour this away or stir it in. Eventually, you should start to see bubbles forming and the mixture begins to swell. Add some starter to a glass of water and if it stays on the water it means you are ready to go! Otherwise, make another starter.
In a large bowl, add 1 cup of warm water and 100 gr of sourdough starter and 3 cups of flour, add 10 gr of salt, 2 teaspoons of oil. Mix the mixture and use your hand to mix it perfectly. Cover with a clean towel and let it rise until doubled. Turn onto a floured surface; punch dough down. Divide in 5 Shape each into a mini round loaf.
For this recipe, I have used two cups of multi-grains flour with a cup of white flour. You can use only white flour as well as add 2 tbs of sugar or honey into the mixture for your breakfast bread.
Place mini doughs on prepared Le Creuset pot which I prefer to use the round shape pot for this bread. Cover it and let rise until doubled about 30 minutes. Use a brush to egg wash your bread. Bake at 200°C for 30 minutes or until it's golden brown.
Before my next recipe, I would like to talk about why did I choose these colorful Le Creuset pots?! If you never experienced cooking with Le Creuset or even you have one at home and never used it before, you might be interested to know that your cookware will retain all the benefits that come with cast iron while also looking beautiful, remaining easy to clean, and rust-free.
Regarding their website, These molds are then fitted together – leaving a small gap in between. Then, melted raw materials are poured into the small gap. After casting, the shape is allowed to cool before being removed from the mold for finishing. Le Creuset breaks the mold and recycles the sand to ensure that no piece of cookware looks like another. After that, the pots and pans are finished and smoothed to ensure that enamel goes on the surface perfectly. Then, enamel is added, as well as a colored coat to finish the piece up.
Personally, I think everyone who loves kitchen and cooking needs to have at least one Le Creuset pot. You will see how tastes are different in these creations.
Now let's talk about our next recipe with sourdough starter.
The direction is the same but the flour changes all the time. I always choose organic flour because the taste is better and is purer. You can play with your flour & mix them differently till you reach your favorite flavor.
Direction: In a large bowl mix 230 ml water and add 200 gr of starter with 400 gr of rye flour ( which can be 250 gr rye and 150 gr white flour) and 2 tbs of salt and 2 teaspoons of oil. Never add salt and starter together because salt will stop the rising process. After mixing it perfectly cover it with a towel for 24 hours and come back use your surface and your hand to firm the dough. Again needs to rest for another 3 hours. You can directly put the dough in your Le Creuset oval pot and let it rise for another 30 minutes. Now, It is ready to bake. preheat oven to 300°C and bake it for 40-45 minutes. If you don't have a good oven you can add some water to a small plate and let it steam in your oven beside your dough.
In addition to my recipe, I need to say that for white flour or whole grain flour use strong bread flour.I hope you make these delicious bread at home and enjoy with your family and friends. I will write about different easy loaves of bread in my future articles and will let you know how you can prepare fresh bread for your special dinner:).
